Tower of Hanoi

Move the pieces of the tower from one place to another in the minimum number of moves. This puzzle was invented in 1883 but is still as captivating today as it was all those years ago.

Numeracy

"Numeracy is a proficiency which is developed mainly in Mathematics but also in other subjects. It is more than an ability to do basic arithmetic. Go Maths

Learning and understanding Mathematics, at every level, requires learner engagement. Mathematics is not a spectator sport. Sometimes traditional teaching fails to actively involve students. One way to address the problem is through the use of interactive activities and this web site provides many of those. "Dear Aaron. I am not surprised that you have asked for help as it is quite a difficult puzzle.

It would be no fun if I simply told you the answer but I could give you a clue.

Firstly here are some quick ways of determining if a number is divisible by the numbers in the question:

- A number is divisible by 2 if its last digit is even (0,2,4,6 or 8)
- A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3.
- A number is divisible by 4 if the number's last two digits are divisible by 4.
- A number is divisible by 5 if the its last digit is a 0 or 5.
- A number is divisible by 6 if it is divisible by 2 and 3 (see rules above).
- There is no simple test for divisibility by seven, you need to do the division and check there is no remainder!
- A number is divisible by 8 if the last three digits form a number that is divisible 8.
- A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of the digits is divisible by 9.
- A number is divisible by 10 if its last digit is 0.

Secondly, the first digit is a three!
